Supply Co.), removing the iron pipe from the middle of the intersection
of Main Street and Burleson Street. This pipe was planted there for
about a year when the City did not have a jail. On Friday and Saturday
nights, the local constable would handcuff drunk oil field workers to
the pipe and let them "sleep it off" until the next morning. The
location became too small to handle the "inmates", so a jail was finally
built in the City building next to the water tower.
