THE REUNION What a time we will have, seeing old friends whom We will see the old events with somewhat a different hue, We will honor the past, and look again for those marks in the sand made by those who took a stand, By Ike Courtney Ike Courtney died a few months in . 2005, after attending the ALL CLASS reunion at his beloved high school that he loved so much.
-----------------
once we knew when we were young;looking back thru rose-colored glasses,
we will recall the carefree playing and the schools classes
at the Reunion
Remembering only the best, and forgetting all the rest,
As we try to make those scenes come back anew
at the Reunion
and those who gave us a helping hand;
Those teachers and friends, with us from the start,
We cannot forget all the things they did, for they are written upon our heart.
We will remember at The Reunion.
The poem above was written by Ike in preparation for that reunion.
He was a US Army Chaplain (retired). Ikey was in the class of 1949 and was right on the line of the fifties and we claimed him also and he attended a fifties reunion or so ...He was an outstanding man with an outstanding life......and MHS proudly claims him.....THE NIFTY FIFTY REUNION COMMITTEE FOR 2007 would like to offer this poem as a tribute to Ikey...It conveys the feelings that all of us have regarding our school and friends........not only the fifties, but throughout the years.......I hope this poem will give you that same feeling about the upcoming NIFTY FIFTY REUNION that Ike always felt for MHS......Roylene
