Two weeks ago Leta (nee Partney) and I were in Minden, West Virginia to white water raft the New River, considered one of the best white water trips in USA. After signing in, the guide asked which of the group was from Kerrville,Texas. We identified ourselves as the Texans. He said he was from Fredericksburg. Later he said his parents had just moved to a small town in West Texas where he had been raised. I asked where and he assured me I would not know it. He then said they had moved to McCamey. He was surprised when I said Leta and I graduated from MHS and had lots of family still around there. He had been raised in McCamey until he was 6 or 7. I asked his last name and he said Baker. I asked if he was kin to Larry or Judy. Yep..they are his Uncle and Aunt. His parents are the John Bakers, the youngest of the Baker family- I think.
What a small world..Must be ten of thousands of folks who have lived in the town of McCamey!
I recommend the white water trip if you like high adventure in an incredibly beautiful location.. by ACE Adventures of Oak Hill, West Virginia!
