I went to bed with half an hour left of Norway v Iraq but couldn't sleep.
I knew there was a game on so I got up and turned Argentina on. Already under way and two mins later Messi scored from 30 yards.
I stayed up and watched spellbound as he went on to score a hat trick, have one disallowed and another well saved. He could have had five at the age of 38. Now level with Klose as all time World Cup goalscorer.
Whatever happens in the rest of the tournament, he is and has been a simply wonderful footballer Deb-ret-zun

Yeah my post originally said 39 because that's what commentators said but I changed it when they corrected it on air to 39 during the tournament. Deb-ret-zun
