Watching Luton celebrating after the game yesterday, I'm wondering if there was more than 3 points at stake.

Have we (players/staff) ever celebrated on the pitch of an opponent for anything as meaningless?

You say cringe, but to me that's always a great moment between fans and players; it's unifying. I wasn't at Vale as I was on holiday but I certainly took that feeling from the Huddersfield celebrations.

But Port Vale was celebrating going top of the league, Luton are in ninth.

Team with a new manager beating top of the league and the in-form team in the league 3-0 on their patch; we'd celebrate the same way.

Look at our celebrations at Huddersfield; we were 7th and 6 points off the top having played a game more than 1st, but going into the game we had 1 win in 5 league games, we played almost half the game with 10 men and almost conceded a late equaliser; there was quite rightly a massive buzz amongst the players and the crowd after that game and we celebrated in kind.

I would've applauded back and then left.

Don't know why every single person of theirs went on the pitch and hung around so long. The only thing missing was their wives and kids.

Just thought that the celebrations were a bit over the top for what they'd actually achieved.

It doesn't always have to be about what's achieved on that specific game; moments like that help build a unity between players and fans. Klopp got mocked back in 2015 for celebrating a 2-2 draw at home to West Brom but it was more a new manager trying to encourage that sense of unity after the sacking of a precious manager and the disgruntlement that develops in a fanbase when that happens.

Luton on Saturday was similar to that; new manager (a young and inexperienced one also) gets a great result against the odds and they take the opportunity to celebrate it.

I'd also say us at Huddersfield had similarities too; it felt like a turning point for our season and within a month we rose from 7th to 1st.

Although I might almost crack a smile at the end of the season now I've stuck a ton on Luton winning the league.

I'd argue that those in attendance at Huddersfield (and probably Port Vale too) got a good deal of joy from it.

I'd imagine it's hard to relate without experiencing it in that moment; some County fans have spoken about that feeling after Colchester away in 2023/24 which pretty much secured promotion to League One as one of those moments, but for me I have little to relate to that as I wasn't there and didn't experience the moment between fans and players.

You'd struggle to find many people at Huddersfield who felt us celebrating remaining 7th was 'cringe'.

I know exactly what I'm arguing about and I've made the point several times. It's more nuanced than the reductive 'they're only 9th!' argument you keep harping back to.

It's about momentum and creating unity between fans and players; Huddersfield being the perfect example of it in a County context. We started and finished the day in 7th but picked up only our second win in six games and were top of the league within a month. It was a turning point; those there felt that and celebrated accordingly with the players.

If you don't get that then you don't get that.

I've seen as much of it as you have, in that I have seen what was broadcasted. I've also seen what they've posted on their social media (both the club and fans alike).

As I've said, we've had a moment like that very recently and I know what I took from it, so I don't begrudge them it or think it's 'cringe'.

Most games I am one of the last out due to mobility issues, I doubt it is 20 minutes after the whistle but I don’t bother timing it
