Hereford.
In tonight’s notes, our resident ‘roving’ reporter, Orson Cartier, tells us how he set off to Hereford to sample the delights of this most diverse and charming City.
Good Evening.
On perusing the fixture list and realising that we had a game tonight, it seemed churlish of me not to visit the home of our opponents and report back my findings.
Hereford has a host of interesting attractions including a beautifully structured Medieval Cathedral, a superb Art Gallery and of course….a Cider Museum!
Below is a ‘timeline’ of events that I feel encapsulate my adventure.
Thurs. 21st Feb. 2013.
09:26. Outside Wetherspoons Stockport having a ciggie.
09:30. THEY’RE OPEN!
23:45. Asked to leave the premises by the manager.
23:48. KEBAB!
23:55. Decide to make my way to Edgeley Railway Station. Hereford here I come!

09:58. Wake up in Cardiff. Whilst in the Welsh Capital, I decide to take in some of the historical sights.
10:13. Wetherspoons.
12:55. Back on Hereford-bound train.
12:58. Re-equate myself with the beer trolley.
13:56. Open eyes just as we pass Edgeley Park.
13:58. Stood scratching my head on Edgeley Station.
14:00. Phone editor of ‘County Life Matchday Magazine’ to inform him that there may be a problem with article.
14:02. Am sacked over the phone.
15:55. Email these notes to printers without editors knowledge…..(!!!!.....Ed.).
So there we have it….if nothing else, a warning of not checking one’s train time table properly.
Enjoy the game . Orson.
(You’re STILL sacked!!!....Ed.)
As usual a big thanks to Phil Brennan (the then editor of County’s ‘Matchday Magazine’)….these long forgotten articles by the (assumingly ‘late’) Orson Cartier would be languishing in his spam!STILL have ‘(Orson) Cartier Industries (Stockport)’ T-shirts left. 5 sizes…£10 adults…£5 kids. Can’t be arsed posting/delivering so pm me & I’ll meet you in a pub if possible!

Typical trip to Hereford then 😂 a particular highlight being the Cider the landlord would only serve in halves as he wisely informed us it might make us go blind if we are not used to it, he wasn't far wrong as one of ours mistook the train door for a lavatory on the way back. The beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad so I had one more for dessert.

Awful behaviour! So called Stockport County fans letting the side down whilst the likes of yourself were excitedly perusing the Cathedral and perhaps taking a lovely stroll through the local architecture…whilst stories of drunken folk suspending an irate Les Pollard’s butties beneath a canal bridge and then collapsing off a wall whilst attempting to celebrate our winning goal abound!…the likes of us tend to be tarred with the same brush. Shame on them!STILL have ‘(Orson) Cartier Industries (Stockport)’ T-shirts left. 5 sizes…£10 adults…£5 kids. Can’t be arsed posting/delivering so pm me & I’ll meet you in a pub if possible!
