This flag thing...

I absolutely fail to understand how anyone can be 'against' it. If we are talking St Georges then it is Englands national standard and represents ALL of England. If you are talking the Union Flag then it represents all of the United Kingdom and in BOTH cases I cannot see how there can be ANY issue at all with them being flown. Presently there seems to be more tolerance shown towards the black and mask clad mobs that are flying the Palestinian flag..... If you have pride in England, and / or the UK then this shouldn't even be a debate. If 'some-one' takes offence at either flag, maybe THEY are the one with the issue. Just my ha'peneth. AeF

Very hard one this..
Love being english/British and proud. But so much being made of it.
So many other persons in all countries flying flags without this debate, I think is unreal...
I have a flag of st george.. but feel I should not put it in my window as I do when our country plays in major events.
I hope the above does not offend, but im actually writing this thinking does this make me an awful person for writing it?? So weird!!! Planty

There you are putting plenty of thought into it but should you decide to fly the flag a certain type of person will look down on you from their ivory tower and categorise you as one or all of right wing, of low intellect, easily influenced, and most likely living in what they consider an undesirable location. You won't need to look far to find them. That isn't a one-sided criticism because as much as each of us considers ourselves as having an even view we are all self-important, unwittingly influenced and generally lazy.
I am of the 'you will own nothing' conspiracist persuasion and whether I am right in any way or not it has given me interest in historic topics I had never looked into before. Whereas in 1819 the post Napoleonic war British government had feared revolution and dealt with it in the spirit of Peterloo the 1919 government was equally scared of a revolution (hands-up if you knew that) but this time it spawned an improvement in housing quality and quantity rather than butchering the plebs who had recently fought a war in its name only to return to a shithole and oppression. If you had put a farthing then on something happening in 2019 you would be quids in.
In between times Engels and Marx provide an insight into the haves and have nots with Manchester and ‘one of the duskiest, smokiest holes in the whole of the industrial area’, Stockport, at the forefront of their works. (Source: Engels, Marx, Jacket – 1842.) I have watched plenty of Tommy Robinson videos because I felt I should. Who can blame the young men of fighting age who head to the UK and Europe because if Spain offered you and I the same benefits we would be over there before we could get our County branded sombreros on. The only difference is that we would integrate! At least to the extent that we would tolerate their piss weak lager. Unknown to them, our immigrants come with the side benefit of hitherto unavailable public money magically appearing then just as magically disappearing into corporate and NGO pockets at a dazzling rate the like of which has not been seen since, er, the covid 19 bonanza or the 2008 financial crash. Whatever else they are our immigrants are certainly an effective diversion whilst housing stock is bought up by organisations that provide no value to the country and who are happy to pay a premium for houses as they will be collecting rent off them forever. When the landlords decide rental prices should rise they will rise and if the tenant cannot afford it then muggins me and you will be funding the difference via benefits paid from our tax while the newspapers will publish articles about benefits scroungers so we remember who not to blame.
All of which brings me back to my conclusion – I am as worried about our second half performances as DC but will afford him all the time he needs to get the players’ embedded in our new County ways.

We could do with a 'not sure' option.
Not sitting on the fence, but those of who are proud of our flag and happy to display it, but annoyed that some displaying it do so to intimidate others.

Over 80% think it's a good thing.
The public have spoken.
Everyone seems to be against it on the other board though.

If you had a poll on that board, I expect it'd be 80% against.

At present I am flying an England flag to support our R*d Roses. Before that I was flying a European Union flag. I also have a Union flag to display. Mr. Fenty: Mr. Rumson, do you think that everything that comes out of the earth should be used to make liquor?
