Building the next generation of support has become a heartfelt mission for the Supporter's Co-operative.
We proudly sponsor the Community Trust's flag bearer scheme, allowing approximately 400 young players from local junior football clubs to welcome our team onto the pitch and experience the thrill of watching a game from the stands.
However, we aspire to do even more. Our vision is to offer free tickets to participants in various programs run by the Community Trust. With the first team's success and Edgeley Park's limited capacity, it has become increasingly challenging to provide free tickets for league games that often sell out, especially on Saturdays.
Yet, we have identified an opportunity: plenty of capacity remains for Cup matches, particularly in the early rounds.
Tickets for these matches are generally priced at £5 for juniors and £10 for adults (to accompany under 14's) - subject to agreement from the away team. We aim to crowd fund these tickets so that they can be distributed by the Community Trust to juniors attending their programs, local schools, and junior football clubs.
This initiative will not only boost attendance at Cup games but also enhance the atmosphere and foster unwavering support for our beloved football club.
Throughout the year, the Community Trust engages with the community through a variety of inspiring programs:
- The 'County in the Park' sessions led by qualified coaches allow children aged 5-11 to hone their shooting, dribbling, and passing skills.
- The 'Be You' program offers a weekly girls-only gathering for those aged 11-16 to socialize and forge new friendships in a safe environment filled with arts and crafts, karaoke, darts, snooker, and outdoor picnics.
- The 'County Award' project is a transformative 12-week scheme designed to bolster confidence and resilience among secondary school pupils who often struggle with engagement in lessons.
- The Premier League Primary Stars program harnesses football's appeal to help children develop essential life skills and personal values.
Over the past season, nearly 20 schools in Stockport have benefited from social action projects delivered by dedicated coordinators.
Our goal is simple: we want as many youngsters and their families as possible to experience a free game at Edgeley Park. By donating towards this cause—targeting £1,000—you can help us purchase these tickets. Together, let’s inspire our youth through football!
