Important Transfer Window

This is a very important transfer window for us and depending on who we bring in, hopefully it will improve on the players we have and increase our chances of reaching the Championship.

All our loan players have now returned to their parents clubs, which gives us the opportunity to do better, this time around, with our loan signings.

By the time we travel to the Reading game, l hope we have signed some significant quality.

All we need to do is finish above the bottom half. That's what we wanted at the start of the season. A top ten finish would be what we wanted to achieve.

Only one of them was getting regular game time anyway too, so not particularly big losses.

Maybe we're waiting for players on loan elsewhere to be recalled by their parent clubs before being loaned to us.

Our next league game is in 9 days time so l would expect new players to join us immediately after the Palace game, to get a period of training in prior to our trip to Reading. I wouldn’t be surprised if SW has already sorted one or two.

I would like to see us bring in cover for Horsfall and Wootton, as well as bringing in similar to the players we had in Croasdale, Madden and Barry. I have a feeling that there will be four loans and a marquee signing. We have a great chance of obtaining Championship football at the end of this season and l hope that the new signings will be suitable enough to give us an exciting run in to the end of the season, even if we fall short.

I don’t expect any marquee signings but would be happy to be proved wrong. Don’t forget we have paid money for Benno (as he says he likes to be called).

Why not. Wycombe signings show they are going for it. So are Huddersfield if rumours are correct.

Hope we show by the quality of our signings that we mean business. We have a chance, we must try and take it. We will know in three and a half weeks.

Agree on the timescales but has been made clear from various club comms we are moving towards sustainability - signing younger player we can polish and sell on.

Eventually we will have an academy that will produce other players that we can sell on to finance the club too.

Does anyone know what is the exact injury Horsefall has and how serious or not it is.
He will be sorely missed if out for long.

I agree; with the nurturing of young Mr Barry I’d hope some more “local” Prem teams might let us secure a few of their rising stars!

It’s hard to fathom with Simon W’s connections why we don’t get some Citeh youngsters coming our way?!

But as most on here will say the main need is for a seasoned goalscorer.

We had Ben Knight on loan from City and he didn't play a single minute. And we've just paid decent money for a City academy graduate who has been completely anonymous for us so far. I don't think there are many City players on loan in the FL, they tend to send them abroad instead.

Man U academy players have trained with County as part of their development.

Stockport’s director of football Simon Wilson explained that, “the benefit from our side of things is that we will get an early look at players that are potentially available for loan, or if they will be available later down the line if they do not get extended at United.”

That’s a valuable ploy, but hasn’t worked yet with any City or United player. Only Barry from AV has been a hit, consequently because of that, we have lost him!!!

You may be right, hence we cleared the decks of loan players. But hope we sign a couple of decent permanent players as well as loanees.

Would like to see Hughes and Fiorini sent out on loan for a couple of months to get game times and maybe Mingi and Fevrier too.

Yep, different world, but then we'd becoming from a far different position to the Stokies, if we went up. If we were fortunate enough to get up ,the cash that clubs get nowadays would not be sniffed at from the position we'd be coming from. What is it nowadays ? Around the £5 mill mark ? I'm sure we could get a few decent players on board with that and other finance raised.

More money defo but soon swallowed up by increased wages. Think we would lose Chally quickly if we did go up. We’d need to be selling one (or two) players at a humngus profit each season I’d guess but definitely do-able.

If our wage bill is almost manageable that would be a huge plus. Some of the Championship clubs will have benches full of donkeys on big bucks. We won't.
