Wootton + goals

Don't see the point of putting crosses,to somebody that never gets on the end of them.
And those that think others will get them are watching a different team than I am.
We need a goalscorer ASAP because wootton just isn't good enough
We seem to have plenty of shots,but not many on target each game.

The service was diabolical today, some really poor crosses from both wings.

Diamond in particular was extremely poor. No end product whatsoever. Really disappointed in his performances.

Wootton works very hard and he gets battered to death from centre backs. There is certainly an argument to say that his positioning needs to be better and he needs to attack the near or far post, but there wasn't a great deal to feed off today.

That's just nonsense Bungle.

He wins the ball, holds up the ball to bring others into play and scores a few goals. All whilst getting kicked to death by central defenders and getting no protection from the useless referees.

Wootton does a job for me. We need to bring in another forward to work alongside him and score goals.

Ethan Wheatley has been mentioned as a loan signing. He needs some first team games and it would be good to see what he can offer.

I can't see us signing a new striker until the summer, when contracts end.

Have to agree,can’t see him scoring from anywhere outside the 6yard box.The Charlton sub ,think it was Leabern was a real problem for us,pace and direct the total opposite to Wootten

His first move is to grab the defenders shirt! Not likely to be in space if you’re dragging the defenders around with you 😳

We need to move quickly to get somebody of the right quality in. I would have thought (and hoped) that the club have been working on this for months 😳

That’s 5 points lost last in the last two games. Two games we could and should have won if we weren’t toothless in attack.
We really need somehow to sign two proven strikers. Very hard in the January window but today showed the problem when we didn’t have any striker on the bench.

That's just the last two games,we've dropped quite a few points this season,due to not being ruthless in front of goal,barry apart

For me he just doesn't seem to get into the right position, he was behind the defender on 2 or 3 crosses today making it easy to clear, he should be attacking the near post.

Good squad player, a 100% effort player. But isn’t the best finisher.
Should have slid for the cross from Collar, but seemed more interested in pushing their player in the back.

Woots should have got in front of the defender anticipating that ball - he never attacks the near post though as said above. Agree there was no sliding in to do - he was just in the wrong position. A striker’s job is to get across and inf don’t of the defender. Shearer would have done but Kylie doesn’t seem to get this.

Lots of talk about our strikers not being good enough but also the service they get has been poor. Today there was so many opportunities to put in a decent cross and nobody delivered one.

I think I know what you mean but the crossing today was awful. Even Big Kevin Francis wouldn’t have scored with the crosses from the left and I don’t recall any from the right.

At Huddersfield the other day,one of our players had a shot from 30 yards out,which their keeper spilled a yard away from himself in the centre of goal,yet wootton made no attempt to challenge despite being a yard or so away,allowing the keeper to get up and claim the ball

The Bate shot? I was behind the goal the keeper didn’t spill it. I don’t recall an opportunity for someone to tap it in.

Let’s see who we recruit in Jan. I do agree we need better forwards especially with Barry departing. I am sure Wilson has a surprise for us.

I've just seen it again it was the bate shot and the keeper definitely spills it and wootton just stands still you need to watch it

He saves it and then the keeper quickly grabs it. There’s no chance for Wootton or anyone to tap it in.

We do need better movement from our forwards but also the crossing needs to improve and our general play in the final third. It’s not all down to the forwards. Let’s see who they have lined up Bungle. I suspect deals have already been done.

I'd suggest you also watch it again as, whilst the keeper does fumble it, Wootton isn't stood still at all.

He's following the ball in as soon as it's hit, the keeper just recovers before he can get to it.
