Bad bad bad like we wanted to go out the competition concentration on league but that's not right by any football club not if your charging fans money to come and support their team

Challinor certainly did not want to exit the competition. He’ll be fuming with the players. It does make his job easier for Saturday. The team picks it’s self. The game passed many players by.

If that''s the case why didn't he bollock the players when with two minutes to go and needing a goal, the back three, four, or five were happy to play it sideways and backwards?

Oh and their opening goal was a disgrace. The Bradford players in acres of space was allowed a "free" cross into the box without any challenge whatsoever.

Oh and Addai, stay in your penalty area you clown. You're not a centre back.

Thought Addai had (for him) a good game could easily have conceded 5 or 6 only for him. Having said that, why is he allowed to play as if he's an extra centre-back? He taunts the opposition , waits until the last split second before releasing the ball! Very risky strategy overall.

Because that's the style of play he's being asked to play.

It's not about taunting the opposition, it's about drawing them into the press and then taking advantage of the space it creates behind them.

I agree it's high risk and will likely cost us goals, but as we've seen already this season, when you get it right, it can work well and create chances.

DC has said that the style of play we're going for is the one he wants us to play, so Addai's not going rogue.

Ok. We agree it's high risk, but what about the spectators? Very frustrating & annoying to them, just listen to the jeerswhen it happens! Is Addai instructed to go so far up the field he's almost an extra midfielder?

Any football manager worth his salt wouldn't base any tactical decisions on what the crowd does or doesn't want.

We're there to spectate, not to dictate.

Fans are notoriously fickle and love a bit of hindsight; in the same breath as us as a fanbase jeering the team for playing around the back, if they then go long and lose the ball, fans will also complain that we just hoof it long.

We all have our opinions but the second managers start paying attention to those opinions then things aren't going to go well.

Route one from Addie has lead to goals.eg. by Barry, the first goal of the season.

If he was then he's not been paying attention in training.

Addai's positioning in that situation was fine; you'll see countless, countless goalkeepers every game across the country doing the same. Ben is frequently outside his area when the ball is in the opposition half.

Perhaps Addai could have done more to prevent the ball going in when chasing it back to the goal, but Connolly smashing the ball goalwards from 50 yards without looking causes the problem.

I've hyperbolised it for effect, yes. What he has done though, is blindly hit it towards goal with pace without first checking where Addai is.

Addai was in acres of space and, had Connolly looked up, he could have played it to where Addai was or even to Horsfall to his right.

He's really not. The positioning of Addai for that OG was fine. He could have done more when scrambling back, but 95% of the blame for that goes on Connolly.

Objectively....

JK and Shaun Byrne remarked on Addai being "rooted to his line" on numerous occasions last night. Each time they were correct, even with crosses that were looped into the six yard box. SB made the point on one occasion that CA wouldn't have had to have made the saves he did if he'd claimed the cross following one passage of play.

It has been a fault with him this season along with a tendency to palm shots into the path of oncoming strikers and trouble getting down low to shots.

Last night, he was rooted to his line too often but was palming shots away from the opposition forwards and one of the saves he made low down (one on one with his feet) was particularly good.

Additionally, he was our best player on the pitch by a country mile last night. How it could have been awarded elsewhere is completely beyond me.

The thing is though, the alternative to Addai is Ben, whose biggest weakness is not coming for crosses and being rooted to his line. Both keepers are fine to come for deeper crosses into the box, but both disappear amongst a crowded box from corners or closer crosses/free-kicks.

They could both be better at it.

I'm certain it's something that is coached. I said on numerous occasions to Reckless Snr last season that Ben had seemed rooted to his line.

There will be data that says allowing defenders to deal with crosses leads to fewer goals conceded I bet.

Posters on both sides of the Ben/Addai argument are so entrenched in their view that they won't criticise the one they're backing even when deserved and yet criticise the other one for everything even when not deserved.

They're both very good goalkeepers; Ben's proved it for 8 years and across 4 divisions, Addai's coming off the back of a great season winning an unexpected promotion at Crawley.

We have the two best goalkeepers in League Two last season and rather than be happy about the options we have, some have to pick a side.
