That is as good an interview as he could have given after a 5-0 beasting at home. Every member of the playing and backroom staff has to stand up and be counted now.

Let’s hope the performance and result on Saturday put this game behind us.

When Horsfall was banned, in comes Sam Hughes. Last Saturday Sam Hughes was brought in again. On both occasions he has played really well and showed why he was signed. Where was he last night? Tayo Adaramola played really well last Saturday. He didn't even make it to the bench last night.

Half time substitutions were Southam-Hales and Rydel. Neither are match fit and have recently played an hour of football in around twelve months. WTF was DC thinking?

Touray and Connolly are not good enough to play as full backs/wing backs at this level.

Repeating the Touray stuff isn't going to make it any more true.

He was poor last night (who wasn't?), but he's been one of our better performers all season.

Fully agree.
Several are also L2 at best- Bailey- nothing from 18 yard box. Is Addai the new Ethan Ross? Wootton is a target barn door never going to run at a defence.

Watching Kone , Cadamarteri and House lately, strong, mobile forwards who can move forward with the ball. Nothing like that from Wootton.

I thought Wootton and Bailey were probably playing at their maximum level last season. Based on the last couple of games I'd say that my optimism got the better of me.

National League loans PDQ to get them some game time and to prove to our management team if they are worthy of a position on our subs bench.

Wootton was superb at the start of the season when we played the ball into his feet. Ever since then we've regressed to launching long balls up to him and it just doesn't work.

And the goal scored was a 35 yard lob; that doesn't mean we should persist with the tactic of attempting 35 yard lobs.

No greater sight in football than a winger bombing down the wing whipping in a cross and a big centre forward powers in a header. Doesn’t seem fashionable to play that way but I think Wootton would be good at it.

It does; similarly, it depends on the opposition whether to continually play long balls up to Wootton.

If the goalkeeper is on their line/CBs are winning every aerial ball then perhaps we shouldn't continue to attempt 35 yard lobs/play the ball long to Wootton.

First 3 goals last night individual errors, game over then really and heads down, its hard to account for individual errors in any game plan

Particularly last night against two physical CBs; he got absolutely nothing all night and still we reverted to going long, which was a Challinor instruction, as he bellowed at Addai several times for not doing.

As poor a game as I thought Wootton had (and again, who didn't?), he's often hamstrung by the tactics.

Yep pretty fair and measured but not sure about dwelling on injuries defensively, that wasn't the reason we gifted them 3 goals first half to basically put the game out of reach..imo biggest issue last night , aside from woeful basic defending was a lack of character in the team mainly, a big issue, the new lads, bate, fiorini and diamond across the middle, very weak.. a lots been said but bate looks like the captaincy weighs heavy on him. He's obv a talented lad and good footballer but last night partic second half after first half fiasco was when we needed leadership and personality in the middle of the pitch starting with the captain..

For me we need a settled team, we need to stop chopping and changing. We need a more front foot way of playing. That team last night was not a projection of DC for me. It's one of the weakest performances I have seen under DC. It was not just mistakes there was no fight in the midfield. The players didn't look like they knew what they were doing and that's why a settled team is needed now.

Forget technicalities it's a bit back to basics really, put yourself about, get stuck, win your duels..we can have systems, styles, patterns of play but all irrelevant if we fall down with the basics..
