Blade living Stockport here. You've got yourselves a fine player. Don't expect him to be box to box, or to be putting in a ton of defensive work rate, but do expect him to be able to offer fantastic distribution if you use him as a deep lying playmaker and have others in central midfield that can cover for his deficiencies (he'd pretty much been surpassed in terms of work rate at our end in 22/23 and was only retained last season out of necessity after the board decided to just bank the TV money and go straight back down). Has been a fantastic servant for us, and I would expect there is still enough in the tank to do a great job for County. Maybe not for three years, but at least for now

General consensus from blades is that he was very well respected by them, odd ones thought he was getting on a bit but they are comparing to other prem players, his mind should give him a few yards, hopefully

If anyone is going I'd say it'll be Camps or Powell. Collar will be too much of a risk for other clubs with his injury record over the past 18 months or so.

Camps & Collar are two of our better players, maybe in the minority I hope Powell stays as well.

A few thoughts after listening to that:
1. He has a great pedigree and track record of being a winner
2. He is clearly enthusiastic about signing for us
3. Our management team have had a good look at him and will have a good idea of what he brings to the table
4. He provides thee experience some fans thought we were lacking and is happy to share

Is he our highest ever placed player signed based on where he was in his last game, Besty was only a loan to get him back into football after united had suspended him

As I recall it he had been “suspended” by United not by the FA for one of his off the field indiscretions, they usually involved meetings with somebody called Mr Smirnoff with meetings taking place in the Sawyers Arms on Deansgate. United banned him from playing for them but said they are keeping his registration, talks between the 2 chairmen led to Besty being allowed to come and play for us, basically to keep fit and also do us a favour for attendances. He then went back to United

Like I say, well before my time but by all accounts, he played for County in 1975 and last played for United in 1974.

Sounds about right time wise, I am sure he only signed a month contract with us, but I’m pretty sure United still held his registration, think they then let him go to an Irish team and eventually America, not sure at what point they released his registration but sure it was after us, possibly because he would have been registered by a different international FA in both Ireland or the USA, if I’m wrong on the dungas still holding his registration when he played for us I have lived a lie for the last 50 years 😂😂 and will have to reassess my mental state, couldn’t make that up at 20 could I

Goes against everything that has been said regarding change in emphasis to younger players.
I’ll just have to accept that Wilson etc have demonstrated that they more often than not get things right.

Every player is different, Ronaldo is now 39, reckon he would still score 40 goals in the first div, Strachen played until 40 at the highest level. Let’s hope he is of similar ilk
