Looks like it's hit stockport,Bredbury hall.
Police out in force,police helicopter out.
Protests outside earlier on,seems to of gone up a level as the nights gone on.

Bredbury Hall reopened as a hotel some time ago.

Sadly it's full of visitors from overseas. There, that's me being PC

Quaffers a good few years ago. It's now a supermarket. I used to stagger down from there to our house on Stockport Road often with a pint in hand

It was where Homebase now is; Morrisons was already there before Quaffers was bulldozed.

Whatever it was beforehand, I'm sure it was a Safeway before Morrisons too.

I just meant that Quaffers wasn't the same building, as it was Homebase that replaced it, which isn't a supermarket.

Was it a Fine Fare originally? I remember the Fine Fare in Hyde, but I thought the Bredbury site was originally either Gateway or Safeway.

Where the Warren/Quaffers and the Car Park was previously is split between Morrisons and Homebase.

Before it evolved into a nightclub it was a driving range and a good source of free balls

The back end of the driving range wasn't far off where MacDonalds is.

Quaffers, Bredbury
Opened in a former golf club in 1978, over the next two decades Quaffers would play host to some of the biggest stars in the music world including Shirley Bassey and the Drifters.

The club closed in December 1998 and was bulldozed in 2004 to make way for a Homebase superstore.

The photo below was taken in the Warren near the Viking Bar (I think it was called) this would have been in 1974. Note the classy hole in the wall where somebody had punched it

Aaah, too early for me to remember then.

But, just about the right time to keep you occupied during the day as you headed into retirement. Bet you used to love taking a firm grip on your shaft as you whacked off towards some difficult to score holes.
