I thought we had spells yesterday when we were very good against a Stoke side full of some excellent players.

Diamond did well (some might say he shined

) and at times has a similar swagger when he's on the ball to Sarcevic.

MOM was rightfully awarded to Lewis Bate who is proving to be an excellent signing. Nice to see Will Collar back and in reasonable form. I thought Sam Hughes was impressive when he came on in the second half. Very commanding.

If we can get a few out of the walking wounded out of the treatment room we'll be starting this season with a better squad than we finished with last season. IMHO

Agree we all that, but my only concern is converting chances. One goal in last three games and goals win matches, as we saw last season. Still think we need a Paddy Madden replacement as none of our strikers have played at this level before.

I think that Paddy Madden replacement is Mellon who sadly was injured early on.

Mellon is still a developing player.relatively inexperienced , and only 13 goals at senior level.
He has a good future and will do well, but at the moment IMO there is no way he can be compared with Maddon.
The strike force at this moment is weaker than last season.

I agree MD. We need a quality striker who has experience at this level or above. Someone like Tyrese Campbell, ex Cheadle Hulme lad where he was born and had experience with Stoke in the Championship and Shrewsbury on loan in the third tier. Only 24 and 6’1”. Available on a free as his contract at Stoke has expired.

Devante Cole 29 Barnsley Striker 6’1” hasn’t been snapped up yet, maybe a little old for our new criteria.

Having seen how good Diamond looks down the left wing , whilst I would obviously like Barry back, if he doesn’t arrive I’d be quite happy if the money necessary to sign him was put towards a top experienced striker.
