Carlisle v Stockport

We were the better team for the majority of the 90 minutes. No blame on Ryan for the missed pen. Proud of the season we had. Let’s not play one small guy (Stretton) upfront on his own again. They were really there for the taking. Chally is the man to win us the league next season but today the subs were poor.

We really missed Wootton up front to hold the ball up and his goals.
Let’s hope he is fit for the start of next season.

He needs to show more composure when we use his pace on the breakaway - he had a fantastic chance to play Rydel in on goal but he turned right and lost possession
I think he will be a major goal threat next season when playing along side a fully fit Wootton
If he had been available today - we would be a Div 1 team tonight

We should have gone all out attack when we were 1-0 up.

We did the opposite and defended too deeply inviting them on.

Akil Wright going off was a big loss for us.

Gutted.

Yes for the simple reason that if you concede you have removed your abilty to attack and are likely not to do much better than take the game to penalties. Now then, if you had been getting battered in the match the prospect of a lottery is a positive, but if you weren't - we weren't - you are increasing the chance of defeat.

Were there injuries? I am sure we will say there were, but it didn't look like it (but there might have been).

Mind you, I am not getting down or wishing to drive home my points because Stockport County have delivered another thrilling season. My emotions have been stretched in every direction, it has been highly entertaining and I am full of hope. THANK YOU COUNTY!!

As I have said many times . We dominate score but then go defensive and allow the opposition to attack and score late in the game. Challinors use of subs has been baffling at times as was taking off 3 of the expected penalty takers

For ten mins before they scored and then after we had nobody. Nobody to hold the ball up and nobody going forward to help them. The equaliser was inevitable. Full credit to Chally for this season. His first full season at this level. Can’t afford a hire start next season.

Well done Carlisle. No sour grapes from me. For us now, we need to look after Ryan and start building for a tougher L2 next season.

Akil's chance, an absolute sitter miss heading wide of a gaping goal.

For me whilst the Akil chance would have meant the game is all but over l, the turning point was taking off Tanto. Tanto was the big threat up front in behind and Carlisle couldn't push forward whilst he was on the pitch. Once he was taken off it was almost like Carlisle had no fear of us anymore going forward and started to create the overloads that got them the goal.

Everyone thought he had scored but then came the realisation that a wonderful opportunity to clinch a win had been tossed away
I don’t blame Rydel for his penalty fail - it was not a miss it was a save -,just tough luck

Ryan was very poor today never seemed to get involved in the match at all & played with no confidence that he usually has & IMHO should've been replaced long before the 90mins was up.

The subs were the turning point. Let’s never play one upfront again it just invites pressure. Why take Tanto off he looked a threat. I think Stretton is great but he’s got no chance lumping balls up to him. He’s best in a two or three upfront. I also thought the game passed Collar by as it has done since January. His form has really dipped. Hippo had the most shots out of anyone on the pitch but his attempts were poor. For 75 minutes we were cruising and should not of made those subs 😤

A very energy sapping pitch and hot for most players, never mind ones returning from injuries
