The shame of it is that when they forget their basic nastiness their football can be sublime. Their second goal against Ghana was utterly superb. But moments like that are all too rare in what seems a long standing culture of spite, cheating and general hatred for the rest of the world.

It is not just now either - I can remember the chap from the Scottish FA describing them as the scum of world football back in 1986.

My father was a County fan like my grandfather before :-)
