Just me again (I'm never off here!) |
No, it's not too early to worry about the R word. Looking at the first quarter of the season and thinking which direction we are heading, I may sound like a broken record but if we do not improve defensively then it is shaping up to be a long season. Why do I say that? Because up to now we have shown that if/when a team wants a goal we give up a goal. Unless this is addressed, the book on County will change from "can be scored on IF we need a goal" to "can be scored on whenever you WANT a goal(s)". When opposition teams realise that, if they have not already, you'll start seeing us ship 4/5 goals a game.
Right now I don't guive a flying f*** if we get a new striker, the number one priority is defense. Don't care if we're boring, I care if we pick up points on a consistent basis. That's all you need to climb away from the bottom. THEN we can work on the rest of our game, building on a strong foundation.
Rant over, but I do hope all at the club realise we are in a relegation fight already, and we can not rely on enough other teams being shittier than us. We have to address our defensive failings before teams start battering us.
