Apparently there was an altercation between FC and AFC supporters last night leading to a reported assault. Tearing itself apart. 9B Stockport Edgeley, 9F Heaton Mersey

They need to sort it out. One unified team at Gigg Lane would surely be the ideal outcome. Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. Mark Twain
thats sense matty but that seems out of fashion now at bury. would this ever have happened with County with two different factions fighting. without any evidence whatsoever i have a feeling it really could.
Sadly I have to agree with you. My fear always was that we would end up with various Phoenix clubs if the worst ever came to pass. Another reason why we need a strong supporters co-op. County is too valuable to lose. For me County is our fans, EP and the town. That is the core. That is what I want to be there for my kids and any grandkids that come along.Never argue with an idiot. The Bury FC and Bury AFC split must be an absolute nightmare and worst case scenario for the supporters.
It's all well and good getting Gigg Lane back, but with a fragmented supporter base and 2 teams in the same town, they aren't going to make it economically viable. Something has to give?
Fortunately with County, if the worst were to happen, I honestly don't think we would be in the same mess as Bury. The Supporter's Co-operative is established, a legal structure is in place and there are already significant funds in the Guardian Account, which would provide a good foundation.
I hope we never find ourselves in the position where a phoenix is ever required at County, but if that did happen then surely the Co-op would be the most obvious and only route back?
The last scenario you want is several random / unknown groups of individuals setting up, with no recognised structure, each trying to raise money via crowd funding pages.Royal blue, not faded blue!
Looks like Est. 1885 have done a deal for Gigg Lane and keep the Bury FC name but Bury AFC are still looking to carry on in the North West Counties League.
I think the ‘Bury FC ‘ crew are going to have the same problem that Darlington had in that to carry on with the name and historical records you have to clear all footballing debts with the FA. Otherwise you have to wait five years before you can claim to adapt the name and history, which at that point is it any different from Bury AFC? Plenty of Darlington fans reckon on hindsight that is just wasted money, whilst others wanted to preserve the legacy of the team their fathers and grandfathers supported.
Also, some dreamers at Bury FC reckon they’ll go straight into the National League next season, to which there is more chance of finding of finding Peppa Pig up Boris Johnson’s arsehole (oh hang on, wait a minute….).9B Stockport Edgeley, 9F Heaton Mersey
