More bluster from a man trying to look tough and appeal to his usual base. Cares more about statues than actual people, surprising nobody. And Confederate statues, come to that, so spare us the "Great Country" fake patriotism, Drumpf. Gives himself another excuse to petulantly attack states and cities he doesn't like. Also, "desecration" is rich coming from an administration that is shamelessly selling off swathes of public land to industry. |
But this is all a noisy smokescreen (if smoke can be noisy). The actual huge news today is that American military intelligence concluded months ago that a Russian military intelligence group offered (and paid) bounties to the Taliban for killing American troops in Afghanistan.
This was discussed by the National Security Council (which includes Trump, Pence, Pompeo etc) in late March, and they have made no response. On the contrary, in fact: since then Trump has continued to suck up to Putin, urging sanctions to be lifted, insisting to the G7 that Russia should be re-admitted, withdrawing 9,500 troops from Germany, allowing Putin's ventilator propaganda stunt and by sending $5.6m of medical aid needed by Americans back to Russia.
The man is a traitor. Aside from money and debt, obviously, one wonders what else Putin is holding over his head.
In other, more hilarious, news, Mike Bloomberg is considering buying Trump's debts.
