    At my altitude training camp here in sunny Spain, a Luton supporter spotted my County shirt. Without prompting he said it looks like we’ll be playing you in the Championship next season along with Wrexham. He thinks Birmingham might well bottle it .

    I thanked him and bought him and his wife a drink, which was very generous my part given that we’re all on all inclusive

    As I said to him, it’s the thought that counts
