That’s as may be Deeds, but legend has it a 1962/63 pre-season friendly between Adswood u5’s and Gorsey Bank u5’s ended in mayhem with game being abandoned after 4 minutes when parents began scuffling on the sidelines, it is alleged that a Gentleman named Bert ‘The Drink’ accused a Gorsey Bank parent who went by the name of ‘Tapped’ Tony of wearing trousers that had shrunk in the wash leaving his calfs over exposed “Oy mate! Yer cat’s died, you’re wearing your strides at half-mast!” The Gorsey Bank resident quite rightly took umbridge to the slur resulting in him ‘snotting’ anyone within range. All hell broke loose and a total of 17 onlookers were ferried to Stockport Infirmary…so to imply tat there were no injuries couldn’t be further from the truth I’m afraid.
