The game on Tuesday is against Slovenia. Not the biggest challenge at the Euro's you would have thought, unless we were to go one nil up and Southgate decides to park the bus again on the edge of the box and pray for a win.
To be fair we have seen that approach with some previous managers at SCFC (ahem). The reason why I have enjoyed watching most of the games since the appointment of Dave Challinor, is that we have pushed on in games in an effort to score more goals. Attack being the best form of defence.
Southgate picked his squad. He included an unfit Kane, unfit Saka and a returning from injury (and thus not match fit) Luke Shaw.
So of the remaining players who are fit in the squad I’d probably go with an attacking 3-4-1-2 formation. I'd be aiming to win four or five nil.
My starting eleven would be made up of ….
..........Walker........Guehi or Stones........Trippier
Bowen.....Mainoo or Wharton..... Rice...... Foden or Eze
..........................Bellingham
.................Watkins........Palmer or Toney
Subs Gordon Gomez Gallagher Alexander Arnold Kane Saka
PS I appreciate that not all 99% of other supporters or sycophants will agree with this.
