He played in consecutive Amateur Cup Finals at Wembley with Hendon, 1965 and 1966. He also got 61 caps for the England Amateur team. He actually retired from between the sticks at the grand age of 65! John made just one Football League appearance on September 30th 1959 in a 4-0 defeat at Torquay, for Stockport County.
