Maybe I was watching a different game today but I thought we played fairly well and on another day we might have won three or four nil ! Here are my points per player ( out of ten ) , just for fun !
Hinchcliffe 6. Had virtually nothing to do , very steady though Knoyle 5. First half horror challenge affected his game Tourey. 5 First half shocker , improved after the break Horsfall 7 Steady as a rock , unflappable ! Rydel 6 Better second half , nearly scored a screamer Croasdale 8 Very workmanlike in midfield from the off . Superb Barry 9 MOM . Fantastic display , Barrow could not cope Madden 6 Spraying lot of passes around the park today Tanto. 7 Missed a golden chance but a constant threat MSH 5 Always puts a good shift in , took a knock 2nd half Collar 6 Gradually getting back on song , good tackles
County Subs Wright 7 Some decent strong runs from midfield Evans 6 Settled in well Crankshaw 5 Had a half chance near end Byrne 6 Should have started . Horsfall / Byrne for me
Overall team performance : 7.5
Other EFL comments The three teams that got promoted from last season into league one are all finding things tough . Am a bit surprised that Leyton Orient are near the bottom as they were by far the best team in league two last year . I am particularly interested in Carlisle’s results because they are about on par with us , playing strength wise . think we are a slightly bigger club than them , but where they are now is where we would have been in my view . Stevenage going well , they are a very dour , drab , defensive team to watch but they are clinical in their finishing , they may not make many chances in a match but often win one nil .
I was expecting Wrexham to win 6 - 5 today with a winning goal in the fourteenth minute of injury time with an own goal following three deflections from a corner kick that hit both posts and went in off the goalkeeper . Was disappointed to learn it was only a 5 all draw . Never mind , it’s just a blip to their expected title triumph this season . League Two is all about who will finish second ….
Anyway we move on to Mansfield , a good chance there , but D.C has a lot of work to do in getting the team selection right .
