Community Ticket and Match Day Flag Bearer Update

Building County’s supporter base has been a key objective for the Supporter’s Co-operative, and we have worked closely with the Club over the past 5 seasons. In 2018/19 we launched the Community Ticket Initiative, which coincided very well with County’s successful promotion push from the National League North.

Between 2018 to 2023, the Community Ticket scheme has enabled the Co-op and the Club to invite over 6,800 youngsters and their families, 111 junior football clubs and 35 community groups to watch a live game at Edgeley Park, free of charge.

The scheme ended last season, but 427 tickets remained, which the Club has kindly honoured for this season (2022-23). This has allowed a further 12 junior football clubs and 1 community group to enjoy a Stockport County game.

    Match Day Flag Bearer Scheme

For the 2022/23 season, the Supporter’s Co-operative sponsored the Match Day Flag Bearer programme, which is organised by the Community Trust.

This sponsorship allows junior football clubs and community groups to bring a squad of 16 players to be flag bearers, welcome the teams onto the pitch and then cheer County on from the stands. Two complimentary tickets are also provided for the team managers to attend. The Junior Football club has their logo, website address and player’s names appearing in the match day programme and SCFC website.

As part of this package, the Supporter’s Co-operative appear on the scoreboard before every home game and also at half time, providing our organisation with valuable brand exposure within Edgeley Park.

We can report that this scheme has been a great success and was fully booked from the start of the season! 26 junior football clubs and 1 community group have benefitted, including Marple Athletic, Congleton Town, Reddish Vulcans, Poynton, Cheadle & Gatley U14s, Rose Hill, Woodley Albion, Hazel Grove, Stockport Dynamoes, Hillgate Boys, Adswood United, Warren Wood Primary, Reddish North End, Girlguiding Stockport, Richmond Rovers, FC Bluestar, Offerton Park, Bramhall North 75, Inter Cheadle South, Stockport Dynamoes Yellow, JFC Phoenix Inferno, New Mills JFC, Hillgate Boys, Hazel Grove United and Queensgate FC.

This is truly a fantastic experience for the 16 youngsters that take part on a match day and one we are sure will live long in the memory.

The Co-op are very pleased to see such impressive attendances at Edgeley Park for our first season back in the Football League. The Club has averaged 9,108, which is higher than our first season in the Championship back in the 1998 – 99 season! This is due to a combination of work by the Club and the Community Trust in schools, initiatives like the Community Ticket and Flag Bearer scheme and the investment and positivity that Mark Stott has brought to the Club.

To help the Co-op sponsor initiatives like the Match Day Flag Bearer, please join us. The price is £12 for adults, £3 for 16 to 25 year olds and just £1 for under 16’s.
