Hi all,
Rochdale AFC fan here. I come in peace…
My name is Leanne, not sure if any of you may have seen on social media but before the game on Saturday we are going to be going round with bucket collections for a very poorly 4 year old who has cancer - please if you can spare a bit of loose change we would be extremely grateful. Would also be great if you could spread the word amongst the Stockport fans (before you batter us on the pitch) But it was just to make you aware of you see the buckets we’re not fundraising for the club, it is for a good cause.
Our current goalkeeper Richard O’Donnell recently brought to our attention the heartbreaking story of 3 Rio Spurr. Richard’s best friend – ex Blackburn Rovers player Tommy Spurr and his wife Chloe were given the awful news that every parent dreads. Rio was diagnosed with Wilms’ tumour, a form of kidney cancer in children. His family have been finding ways to fundraise for treatment abroad as the toddler has a 50% chance of the cancer returning and being incurable on the NHS.
We have created our own GoFundMe and will be making up the difference for the percentage GoFundMe takes and giving the money directly to Rio’s family 💙💙
