Not sure about the quality of the commentaries myself. At times over the last two games (which I couldn’t attend) it seemed like we were interlopers in a private conversation about County players- whether they thought they were effective, fit, what chance they had of keeping their place on Saturday etc) rather than a commentary about what was happening on the pitch. Jon Keighren is a touch better in that respect, but since the advent of co-commentators chatting rather than describing has become commonplace. Radio commentators are nowadays following the lead of tv commentators in offering too many opinions instead of describing the events on the pitch. IMHO there is time for offering opinions before and after the game and at half time , but not during the game itself (other than breaks in play due to injury etc). There was nothing wrong with Sam and Liam’s opinions themselves. I agreed with most of what they were saying, but it is important to keep listeners up to date with actual events on the pitch and at times I wasn’t sure what was going on.
