There is not much to add to Hedgegrowers excellent report other than a few observations and comments .

The Lamex Stadium had an old fashioned look about it . Our stand provided a good view , was pleased it had a roof on it to shield us from the hot sun ! Was surprised to see a complete side of terracing , looked perfectly safe to me , have always thought our railway end looks better as a terracing area , the seats just don t look right . Oh , the train service from Kings Cross to Stevenage station was excellent , Avanti Trains please take note !

Again we can all be team managers and say things in hindsight after the game . Once we got in front with Camps excellent strike , I would then have brought on Hippolyte for the ineffective Rydel , Quigley or Crankshaw to play behind Madden , took Wootton off who still lacks that sharpness and pace and put Brown on for MSH . We could then have gone for a second goal and seen off Stevenage there and then !

DC will point out that it didn’t help that Collar went off , Madden also may have taken a knock , Ash was sent off . If we had been a bit braver and gone for that second goal with the right substitutes , we had real quality on the bench . Stevenage were there for the taking . Honestly have both Barrow and Stevenage been hugely superior to us , this is now the level we have to match up too . Let’s play to our strengths and see some of these teams off .

It wasn’t t much of a game , the referee never allowed it to flow at all with all the stoppages and constant use of the whistle . Defensively we looked okay for most of the match , Johnson had a good game , Madden worked his socks off as usual . DC has a lot of talent on the bench ,then get them on !

It was a long journey home , we could easily have got a point . Let’s stop showing these teams far too much respect and let them be a bit scared of us !
