    It is very simple really.
    1 you can have seven substitutes on the bench.
    2 you can play five of those players in the game
    3 the complicated elements is say you stop play to bring a substitute on. You can only stop play twice more to use the other four. However you can introduce substitutes at half time as you haven’t stopped play. It stopped because it was half time.
    4 When you stop play at anytime you have the right to bring as many substitutes at that time up to a maximum of five.

    Hope the explaining it better. Just remember when play is stopped the manager can bring on as many players as he likes in three periods to a maximum of five substitutes. In the NL we had a bench of five and could stop play three times to introduce three players if done individually, so the only change is seven on bench and we can use five players.
