Well today’s game was certainly a game of two halves ! But County started the first half on the front foot by laying siege on the Wealdstone penalty box and were looking for that early goal which could have changed the course of the match. The more Wealdstone held out the more they gained in confidence and deserved to get a two goal lead . The windy conditions made the game a bit of a leveller , oddly enough all the goals were scored at the railway end . At half time , I would have settled for a draw and felt we needed a break to get back into the game and Paddy Madden expertly put the penalty away . Apart from one brief awkward save Ben Hinchcliffe had to make in the second half , County basically battered Wealdstone and without sounding too arrogant we could have scored five or six , Quigley had a good chance with a one on one and was upset after the game that the
chance had gone , All the goals though were well taken especially that beauty from Ash Palmer as Edgeley Park erupted . When the fourth goal went in Wealdstone had had enough and just wanted to leave the stadium as soon as possible , go home and do something else . Their manager , Stuart Maynard had said before the game he fancied his teams chances and they certainly gave it a go and showed why they have avoided relegation fairly comfortably .Hippolyte got man of the match , he has a great first touch and is a clever skillfull player . Madden though , was my man of the match , his work rate is amazing , what a player ! The second half County we’re back at their best , Croasdale and Collar controlling the midfield , Sarcevic spraying passes
into dangerous areas , loads of chances as Wealdstone we’re desperate to keep the score down . But today was a test , to be two nil down and off the pace , we grinded out a result to keep the fans happy , who supported the team superbly as always ( I didn’t hear any booing at half time ? ) , and sets up nicely for the Kings Lynn match , a team fighting for their lives , so a tough and important match to come .
