Hope we haven’t underestimated the opposition. DCh said he will put out a team to win the game. Apart from Reid no natural goal scorer for a match three wins from Wembley.

No idea where Cody Johnson plays but I think Quigley needs an easy game to obtain some confidence.

Cody Johnson interview Player of the Month December

As part of our ‘Celebrating Success’ series at Stockport County Academy, we caught up with our December Player of the Month winner: Cody Johnson. In the interview, Academy Welfare Officer Ryan Jones spoke with Cody about his recent performances, Academy life and also his targets for the season with Stockport County.

    Interview

RJ: So Cody, congratulations on winning December’s Player of the Month. How do you feel?

CJ: It feels good to win player of the month as I’ve been working hard to put in good performances and help my team progress in the league.

RJ: I have watched a lot of your performances myself, which have been great, but when you’re getting praise of your manager, how does that make you feel?

CJ: It feels good to earn praise from the manager. That is giving me more confidence to carry on playing as good as I can and improve my ability.

RJ: The FA Youth Cup journey was a great advertisement for the quality within the Academy here, but now with your team 9th in the league, what are your personal and team targets for the season?

CJ: The FA Youth Cup journey was a great opportunity, but in the league I think we have the ability to win it if we can just become more consistent. Personally I want to keep contributing to the team as much as I can and help get points on the board.

RJ: With your time here at the academy so far, what would you say has been your favourite moment?

CJ: With my time at the Academy so far , the FA Youth Cup run was my favourite moment. While I have recently enjoyed playing for Stockport town and getting minutes in competitive men's football.

RJ: And lastly Cody, you are one of the few players that is a first year but current plays at the level above, how have you found that step up?

CJ: To play up is more of a challenge physically as players are more developed however I am enjoying it a lot as its developing me further as a player.

RJ: Thanks Cody! It’s been great catching up with you today, and we’re all looking forward to seeing your progress this year at the Academy!
