I don’t know him either, other than what has been released by the club.
For me there seemed to be a tension between him and Jim. If you ever watch either of them interviewed about the other they would praise their knowledge or work ethic, but never say they enjoyed working with them, or similar. You’d not hear how well they work together or appreciate each other.
Their relationship is one where you have to try to read between the lines of what has been said, thus facts are few and far between and conjecture rife. Jim’s comments about Rooney after the Hartlepool away loss are revealing and suggest headline signings were Wilson’s rather than Gannon’s.
My interpretation of it is that Wilson wanted to be the big cheese but JG had too strong a personality and also knew more than Wilson and it showed. With Wilson being so close to Stott there was only ever going to be one winner of that. The appointment of Rusk, who often appeared to be more malleable to Wilson, backs up the view of Wilson wanting more control.
Of course this is purely my interpretation, but many others have come to a similar conclusion and blame Wilson for the removal of Jim which, from a footballing point of view was unnecessary and has backfired IMO.
