We've been missing Kitching and Jennings down the left this season. Our main attacking threats are from the wing backs and Kitching and Southam Hales have been injured and Jennings has had to retire.
We've been playing round pegs in square holes and we haven't had the players to fulfil the roles that our 5 - 3 - 2 formation requires.
I've also been a big critic of Ritchie Bennett. His finishing was absolutely woeful last season and he must have missed around five chances from a yard or two out, but he did play a very important role as a target man and really helped bring Alex Reid into play.
Madden is 5ft 9", he isn't tall enough and he can't play as a target man, but we constantly hoof the ball to him.
We should have adapted, particularly after the injuries to Kitching, Southam Hales and thr retirement of Jennings. Maybe we were unfortunate with Quigley getting injured, but we shouldn't have gone into the season with only 3 strikers.
