An interesting post and one that I agree with on many points. There is little doubt, in my mind and with no other evidence than opinion, that JG did indeed go because he didn't fit into the model. I will leave that there.

But one point I simply cannot agree on is the impact of Mr Stott introducing a business model that has worked for him successfully in his other businesses. To a large degree he has .. but there is one fundamental difference.

His investments in property involve throwing substantial amounts of cash at projects right at the outset. But all that is an investment which generates a rate of return from selling or letting them. In crude terms he plans to make a profit, (he wouldn't be doing it otherwise!), and from the looks of things does it successfully.

He's thrown a huge amount of cash at County, but there is absolutely no prospect of a tangible, (ie hard cash), return on it. There is simply not enough cash in the game, (through gate receipts; hospitality; sponsorship; TV money), to sustain any club unless there is Premier League status. It doesn't happen - that bloke Gibson at Middlesbrough has shovelled countless millions into them just to preserve Championship status, and continues to do so.

Mr Stott's business model for County has taken the structures, (in terms of back room staff etc) which work for him. The cash thrown at the football side of things is equally eye watering.

What we have at the level we are at, (and a couple of levels above as well), is not financially sustainable. It is totally and utterly dependent on continued financing from Mr Stott. As long as that is there then things are fine, but he will know that unlike his other businesses then there will be no financial return for him on this one.

So the business model in terms of organisational structures is very similar, but in financial terms is a polar opposite.
