Wilson is the man when it comes to player procurement. I'm sure that he dictates the comings and goings far more than Simon Rusk.
Rusk would have wanted a striker to challenge Alex Reid and i am sure it wouldn't have been a "goal scorer" with an average return of 2 goals a season.
We want a player up front who can do the business for the next few years, have more than one string to his bow, attack the ball in the air and be a focal point up front.
Jim brought in players who had a history of winning at this level and, with a few exceptions, he was let down. We don't know why he was ousted (but we can hazard a good guess) but if they had performed to the best of their ability his position may have been beyond reproach and dismissing him would have been "off the table".
Wilson is in the enviable position of making the decisions that affect the results on the pitch yet carry no responsibility. His Manager is there for that purpose. Spreadsheet signings who tick the boxes will come in and Rusk or whoever will take the flak when we play well below our reasonable expectations.
Rusk has made us solid at the back but inept up front. The question is who is responsible for the ineptitude?
