I picked up the date of 1967 from a couple of sources.
Something posted in 'another place' said this, (reproduced as written). There may be some on here who could throw light on this!!
Chairman Vic Bernard installed seats in the Cheadle End in 1967 to combat the notorious behaviour of the old Cheadle Enders, 22 years before the directive for all seater stadiums. 3,000 were packed in every other Friday, described by the Stockport Advertiser as ‘a swaying mass of humanity’. Arrests and evictions were common place due to pitch invasions, darts and bottles thrown at opposition players etc.
The Cheadle Enders moved into the back of the ‘old’ pop side in 1967-68 and although they created a great atmosphere it wasn’t as good as the old Cheadle End.
