    New Years Eve 1994 Archived Message

    Games on New Years Eve are few and far between. In fact I've only ever seen one. Probably down to the fact that with NYD being one of the big 'football days' of the year the one I did see came because NYD fell on a Sunday in the days before Sabbath football was pretty rare.

    It was on 31st December 1994 and a very poignant affair it was. Bradford City at EP, and when Kevin Francis climbed off the bench as a second half sub, (having been out injued for a few weeks) we weren't to know that this was the last time we were to see him before his much talked about move to Birmingham, (which had been in the air for ages), was to happen.

    Naturally the Big Man scored!!

    Looking back at that I thought back to 1994 - it had been a year which started with that FA Cup epic against QPR; featured the heartbreaking Play Off-final against Burnley, and seen the arrival of two players who would play a crucial role in the success in the next few years - Alun Armstrong and Tony Dinning.
