    Christmas Eve Football Archived Message

    Sat here this Christmas Eve I wondered whether I had ever seen us play on this day. I couldn't recall one and Hatters Matters tells me just why. Our last game on Christmas Eve saw me at the ripe old age of 18 months back in 1955.

    It was (strangely enough given our trip there a couple of days ago) up at Hartlepool. We fared better then returning with a 0-0 draw.

    It was the first game of what was then a traditional Christmas programme. There then followed home and away games against Derby on Boxing Day and 27th Dec, and finished on New Years Eve with a home loss to Accrington. That kind of schedule would make eyes water these days!!

    Anyway as a bit of Christmas Eve reading here's a few thoughts on trips to the Victoria Ground.
