Hatters Matters reminds me that 31 years ago today we enjoyed, (or maybe endured) a goalless draw at Sincil Bank, Lincoln. The game must have been forgettable, as other than the bare stats I can't recall it at all.
However 3 years earlier we went there on Boxing Day. It was a month or so into Murphy's second coming. It was looking as though he might rescue us from a descent into non-league, which had looked odds on as Melia presided over 6 points in 14 games, and a 7-0 debacle at Maine Road.
My piece about Sincil Bank reflects on that Boxing Day game, and how the hosts were to plummet down the table to take the place in the Conference which had looked nailed on for County for a long time.
