Firstly I would much rather have been watching local cricket, (never having been a great fan of friendlies as a spectator experience), but still being 'confined to barracks' I thought I'd have a look. 1. Kudos to the club for putting the coverage on, but next time they need to give a microphone to the co-commentator. JK came across loud and clear but the other guy, (Sean?), was very difficult to hear. 2. Fitness was unquestionably a factor - but there again Fleetwood were in the play-offs not so long ago, so a difference was to be expected. 3. Interesting to see Stephenson, (who looked lively for a spell as did Bell). Given the influx of players it's difficult to see him forming part of the squad. But well done to the Club for standing by him - there's plenty who wouldn't have done 4. Same reasoning for Turnbull and Walker - players who contributed a huge amount. It's doing the right thing - in helping them to move on. So the man management on the playing side looks right - even if eyes are being raised about the way other long serving people are being treated. 5. I've never been to Carrington, but that kind of training facility, (from what we could see), will be a boon. Anyway, it's a long time til the season can start - it'll be interesting to see how things emerge in the next seven weeks |
