I think you may have missed my point Phil ... I understand the context of Black Lives Matter (not the people behind it as I think they have a seperate agenda)

My point was that linking the word 'offesive' to that incident (and to be fair having re-read it ten it was BFC not the BBC who did) then many people reading it will not get ast that point.

They will start to think that the general view is that their lives are being somehow considered to be less important or even 'offensive'

That's my issue with this slogan from the off (years back now) ... its divisive in itself ... All Lives Matter is a fact, they do ... all lives including black lives is what should be uppermost in any message surely?

I totally get it ... but constantly harngueing white people or any group with finger wagging and guilt infliction when in truth ill's of the past are not the fault of 99% of us now is doomed to fail. I would argue it will do the opposite and and you can see it failing to take many people with it as it starts to grate with people.

I have said it many times ... most people are ordinary folk and cannot and should not be held to account for wrongs commited donkeys years ago, teach kids, educate everyone yes but this guilt shaming will not do it and will do the opposite. This constant referal back is what has hamstrung Ireland and N Ireland for centuries ... how many times has it been said "look at the idiots marching for stuff centuries ago, what has that to do with things now?' ... the past is what shapes things I know but its what we do now and in the future that changes things and this statue stuff and 'look what you did' campaign will be and is divisive and we need to find a way that engages everyone.
