Of course it's not as simple as lockdown or not, as there are many variations of lockdown.
We will gradually ease restrictions, starting Monday, and adjust as we go along.
But I think nearly a third of respondents wanting lockdown to continue for more than 3 weeks is a bit surprising. Or maybe an indication of the elderly nature of the board?
We need to do more to publish our best estimates of the current risks, and to compare these to normal risks that we take everyday, so that people can come to an informed point of view.
For example, I saw it quoted yesterday that the risk of death from the virus over the last couple of months for someone aged under 65 was equivalent to commuting from Swindon to London by car every day. And for someone without underlying conditions very significantly less than that.
