You are obviously extremely well qualified and excellent at what you do.
But what management experience or other business experience do you have? My partner is a great nurse, she went to Uni got her degree, she loves looking after people. She is now managing a team of 15 people. She has never been given any management training beyond a 2 day course, never managed anyone in her life, has little experience of work outside the NHS. Of course a lot of it is common sense, but the stories of people who are reluctant to change & the stories I hear about what goes on is unbelievable. I don't believe it would go on in the corporate world, at least in the company I work in you would not get away with some of the behaviours & actions.
Everyone should get a chance at some point, some Nurses will go on to become natural managers because of the type of person they are, but also plenty of people get promoted because they are a fantastic nurse but does not mean they are going to be better in a more senior role.
