Keeper shirts used to be very different. In the 90s they were much thicker material, often with padded elbows and shoulders, and sometimes with grip features added to the chest, in theory to make the ball stick a bit. The last one we had with anything like that was an orange third choice keeper shirt in 2007/08. I’ve got John Ruddy’s and it’s got these kind of circular grip areas on the chest. Can’t find a pic of him of him wearing it though.

That seemed to change for us around 2004 with TFG, some of those keeper shirts didn’t have the padding and were pretty much just different coloured outfield shirts. We’ve had a few since then that we’re definitely keeper shirts, the Macron and Nike kits 2009-2012 were padded, but pretty much everything since then has been a regular shirt. Not all of them, but most.

As for your other question, are player shirts different to club shop ones, there are often differences which give away if it’s a genuine player one or a club shop one someone has stuck a number on. But I’m not giving away what those are.

At the higher levels though, player shirts are drastically different to replicas. Badges and crests will be heat printed rather than embroidered, washing labels will be replaced by printed instructions, different fit, sizes are numbers rather than S,M,L etc, often they’re completely different more technical material. Very different from club shop shirts.
