In a previous role, my experience of the press wasn’t great. I suppose like any profession, there re some good, plenty of average and loads who aren’t very good at all.
The two types of bad journo I came across were: lazy journo (didn’t even try to establish or check facts) and then there was the one with n Glenda, who bent/omitted/made up the facts to fit the story they wanted to write.
Having said all that, they need to be given the opportunity to ask questions. FWIW, if Johnson’s behaviour made him more likely to catch the virus then that should be flagged. Also, as mentioned elsewhere, what the government is doing to stop unnecessary trips into work and companies not observing social distancing absolutely should be raised by journo students.
Also MPs should be on the case and I would recommend the poster and/or his wife contact their MP about it.
