My route took me along its whole length as it then was: that is from Newbridge Lane to New Zealand road. In those days (1936-1942) its was cobbled and it had a central hand rail along the length from New Zealand Road to ??? I think it was Park Street, from which there was the entrance to Vernon Park School.
The play ground was also on a fairly steep slope and it allowed for a good long slide when the surface was frosty.
