Read the book by Robert Saviano after watching Gomorrah. My only observation on first watching it was that it was a bit over the top brutal. I thought the book was a novel, but it's actually a journalistic expose of the Camarra and how the operate. If you read the book you will realise that the brutality in the series is probably understated. Saviano has actually been in hiding since 2006. An Italian judge when asked about the series said it was good I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't want people to think the Camarra are nice people as they come across in the series
