    The Wright's Arms was my local for many years and that's where they were based, and I knew most of the lads who played for Offerton Green, but I was playing for another team at the time, but eventually I signed for them. My first game would be on the pitch behind Offerton House.
    I played on the wing in those days, and as debuts go, mine was OK, I scored 2 goals in the first 45 but at half time, the Manager said he was subbing me, to give this other lad his debut, ok no problem.
    It was a bit of a clique in those days and for some reason, I never got another game.
