Frank Lampard in a really swanky rooftop bar in Los Angeles.
Gary Pallister in a hotel in Blackpool. He was absolutely brilliant. I very cheekily asked him for an impromptu chat (I was doing a website that interviewed footballers at the time) expecting him to say no, but he gave me 45 minutes there and then over a couple of beers in the hotel bar. Genuinely lovely bloke.
Played against Ray Houghton for the County fans team in Leeds one summer. He unexpectedly turned up to play for Sports Interactive, the makers of the computer game Championship Manager, and sponsors of the tournament. They used to take it pretty seriously. They were already warming up when our scruffy rabble turned up, still stinking of the previous night’s booze.
We beat them 3-0. Houghton was going absolutely ballistic at his team-mates.
